Revisions revisions.

Alright so in response to a huge input of a pictures, projects, data and inspiration I'm going to change a few things around with my armour brigades. My first will stay as it is and organizationally others will stay as they are but models will change. I have decided that instead of going through my stock or Russes in building all my armour brigades then buying more and then later on when I can mass produce my Forrix tank adding more likely pointless brigades of them I am going to hold off on bulding to completion most of my brigades.

That is not to say I won't ever buy another Russ. I may need some for other projects in the future like Bombards and if the new variant kits is good I definately will pick up a couple of those. I'm sorta hoping they bundle the Excecutioner, Punisher and a couple others so I can buy 2-4 of the kits and use spare russ turrets I have now so make turrets to turret swap in like 6-12 new tanks.

As to the Forrix I would fairly say I'm a ways away from actually getting the molds done and starting to cast kits. This means there will be some delay in me getting most of my brigades done but since the Forrix is only partly replacing some russes there will still be the 12 basilisks to build and paint, at least 24 lemans to finish, 6-20 super heavies to work on and any new kits that make the list such as if GW do a plastic hydra/manticore.

Alright so the first armour brigade I'm going to do is made to be kinda basic for the sake of having a base of standard armour on which to build tactics. I doubt anyone will say the basic leman is a do all tank but I say it can do a lot for what it is and while not the best tank for a lot of situations it probably fairs pretty well in most. It's not hard and fast but most of the time my tanks will be organized in squadrons of 4 whether I use squadron rules or not.

Squadron 1 consists of 4 Conquerors one of whick is the command tank. (Since now ordnance can fire on the move this may change dramatically in the case conquerors better ift a different role or the other way around don't fit this role but most likely they will remain as a squadron in this "standard" brigade.)

Squadron 2 and 3 are each 4 basic lemans with a command tank each.

They are primed and ready for paint for the most part though I'm going to get other tanks ready for paint and get the air brush out for the good weather. I wanna note than all these have HB sponsons that are fixed but this will change since I'm considering either hull swaps with future tanks built without sponsons or I might pope the sponsons off and mount them to a new side plate that magnetizes on so I can swap between no sponsons or different weapon sponsons on -ALL- my lemans.

New armour brigade arrangements.

Well it's been a while and there has been a lot going on for me but I have made a fair bit of head way now. I have reconsidered How to organize my armour and decided for the most part to divid everything into brigades of 8-12 tanks each in case of stanrdard size units and 4 super heavies in the case of super heavies. As the new IG codex will add some new variants and change a few things I'm not 100% on my plans so far but I have a rough idea for the first 4 armour brigades I will complete.

In the next couple days I'll try and write up a preliminary detailed listing of what my first four armour brigades will contain though I'm thinking of just holding off til I get the new codex in under two weeks.

Traitor Guard Formations - II

Ok so what is one major aspect of both Iron Warriors forces and the Imperial Guard/Traitor Guard?

Artillery.

Yup. The big guns of inaccurate mass death. Who doesn't like them except for the guys getting killed by them? So of course if I want a full Grand Company or even just an enlarged army for Apoc battles I need a heavy duty artillery section or two.

First off is the near omnipresent basilisk. I happened to have procured 4 boxes of 3 bassies each some time ago so that is where I'm starting but I'm not just going to build 12 plain bassies cause that would be boring an uncreative.

3 "Standard" Bassies.
3 Enclosed gunnery compartment Bassies.
6 Earthshaker gun emplacements.

The "standard" bassies are so straight forward the only personalization in them with me the chaos iconography and the paint jobs. The enclosed bassies are going to be mildly modeled after the FW variant though I'm not gonna make them opennable and I'm going to scratchbuild the guns as a challenge and to save the earthshakers for more fun. The earthshaker emplacements are pretty basic and I'm thinking about casting the base crable after I scratchbuild one so I can make 5 just by casting then maybe make some for friends.

This does leave me with 3 spare earthshaker guns and 6 spare chimera chassis so I'm trying to come up with uses for them. I'm considering Putting together a couple trojans for things like an ammo carier for a Bombard but I wanna get other units done first.

Traitor Guard Formations - I

Ok so I have been working on some traitor Guard formations for a while now. Yeah it has been since 4th Edition so now the plans I had have kinda been kicked in the ass. It's all nice and good to say it's more to support my Iron Warriors in big apoc games but I think we all know apoc games are not the norm.

Now I know some people might be thinking you -can- use the Imperial Armour Vol. 1's Armoured Battlegroup codex to include armoured fist squads to fulfill that vita objective claiming role but as I have said at least 100 times before I hate weak ass little Imperial Guard foot sloggers. They aren't really useless but to easy to kill in my opinion and when you want to spend most of your points on tanks like is the point of an Armoured Battlegroup a couple weak units of infantry are easy targets.

Now I have considered using Storm Troopers for infantry roles but the metal Kasrkin just don't tickle my interest. The style of them and parts of the sculpts are great but the static over done poses and their poor workability being metal just sucks. I haven't heard any solid rumours about when GW will get their act together with some plastic storm troopers but i'm hoping they will have some out soon when they redo the Guard codex cause there are so many uses for them really and I myself would probably buy at least 60.

So for now I'm just working on units that will remain largely unchanged and better suit the support role.

Beginnering of a new era in modeling.

Hmm.... First blog.... Never done this before either....

So I'm starting a blog for no reason other than to collect my thoughts and work together in hopes it can become a partly cohesive body of work at some point.

You can look forward in the future to models built straight out of the box up to crazy scratch-builds and then all sorts of mumbo jumbo to accompany them. I want to have galleries of finished pieces organized into sections of various model types and styles. I would love to in the future put together some step by step tutorials for more noted conversions and odd little modeling techniques I have come up with over the years.

Projects I have in the works:
-Traitor Guard Armoured Battalion numbering over 60 tanks.
-Iron Warriors 60th Grand Company.
-Strange gloomy Mecha Eldar army with 4 Revenants.
